Home Appliances

Home appliances have more or less saved our households over the years.  Microwaves, coffee makers, refrigerators and so many other household appliances make our lives utterly efficient.

A History of Food Preparation

Putting some ease into cooking our daily meals goes as far back as the 19th century.  As fireplaces and hearths were standard for centuries to cook food, wood-burning stoves were introduced by 1815.  By the mid-19th century, especially at the tail the Industrial Revolution, improvements continued to enhance the cooking experience at home with illuminating gas being implemented into stoves and ovens as well as the emergence of microwave technology.

As the 20th century approached, more and more efficient home appliances began taking over.  Gradually leading us to today: An era where the kitchen makes cooking one of the easiest tasks to accomplish during the day.

Benefits of Plastic Resins for Home Appliances

Plastic Service Center is proud to supply various plastic materials for home appliance manufacturing.  Take a look at the list below indicating which resin material we carry:

  • ABS
  • Acrylic
  • Polycarbonate
  • Polypropylene
  • Polystyrene
  • Polyurethane

According to Grand View Research, “[household] appliances which include refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers were the largest application segment of the market and is expected to grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 4.8% from 2017 to 2025.  Polypropylene was the largest product segment used for manufacturing household appliances in 2016, accounting over 25% of the overall market.”

Plastic Service Centers has created advancements for recycling plastic materials from used home appliances and turning them into new products.  Plastic materials reclaimed from depreciated home appliances contain a variety of plastic material.  Because they are a combination, material value is nearly non-existent, and primarily used to burn for landfill.

Therefore, we have created a system for automatically separating combined plastics using gravity and static electricity.  Using this method, the three major types of plastics that are found in home appliances — polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) — can be recovered in large amounts.  We have also created technology for quality standards, which gives recycled plastic a greater long-term value.  These processes make it possible to recycle as much as 70% of all plastics that are recovered from used home appliances.
