DESCO Polyketones
DESTONE® Polyketone (PK) · DESCO Co., Ltd.
DESCO polyketones are aliphatic polyketone (PK/POK) engineering resins built on an alternating propene–carbon monoxide backbone. They deliver an unusual balance of high stiffness, excellent chemical and fuel resistance, very low moisture pickup, and outstanding dimensional stability — making DESTONE® grades a strong alternative to POM, PA and PBT in demanding mechanical and fluid-contact applications.
Stiffness & Strength — Flexural modulus around 1,500 MPa with 57 MPa tensile strength, giving metal-like rigidity without the weight.
Chemical & Fuel Resistance — Resists hydrocarbons, solvents, oils, greases and coolants far better than acetal or nylon.
Very Low Moisture Uptake — Roughly 0.6% water absorption, so parts keep their dimensions and properties in humid or wet service.
Dimensional Stability — Flow shrinkage around 1.6% and balanced cross-flow behavior for tight-tolerance molded parts.
Wear & Friction Performance — Low coefficient of friction and good abrasion resistance for gears, rollers, door checkers and moving assemblies.
Thermal Performance — 220°C melting point, HDT of 82°C at 1.8 MPa and 185°C at 0.46 MPa for elevated-temperature duty.
Easier Processing — Dries in 2–4 hours at 80–120°C and molds at 210–230°C, with lower moisture sensitivity than polyamides.
Responsible Material — Halogen-free, low-VOC polyketone chemistry that supports sustainability targets and recyclability goals.
Proven Applications — Appliance components, industrial machinery, door rollers, door checkers and juicer mixer screws.
